온라인바카라SSG Landers veteran outfielder Han Yoo-seom has been replaced after being hit by a dizzying sand dune during a game.
Han went 1-for-1 with a walk and a strikeout while batting sixth in the lineup against the Doosan Bears in Game 10 of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul on Saturday.
Han Yoo-seom drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the second inning with the teams tied 0-0. He drew a walk against Doosan right-hander Young-gun Kim Min-kyu to put runners on first and second with no outs.
He was stranded in his second at-bat. SSG took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning, but a fly ball to center field sent him to the dugout.
In his third at-bat, he almost did himself in. With the bases loaded and SSG leading 2-1 in the top of the fifth inning, he was hit by a pitch from Doosan left-hander Lee Byung-heon.
On a full count, Lee’s six-pitch, 147-kilometer fastball hit Han directly in the right shoulder. He screamed in pain and was unable to stand up easily.
The SSG coaching staff and medical staff rushed to check on him and signaled for a substitution in the third base dugout. Kim Kang-min, who had been waiting on the bench, was brought in as a pinch runner.
At a moment when everyone watching the game was holding their breath and hoping that Han Yoo-seom was not seriously injured, Han Yoo-seom returned to the third base dugout unassisted.
Doosan’s Lee Byung-heon stood near home plate until Han Yoo-seom stood up and apologized. Han Yoo-seom also gestured to Byung-hun that he was okay and encouraged him.
SSG said, “Han Yoo-seom was hit by a sand dune and was replaced to protect the player. After checking his condition, he will be examined at the hospital.”
Prior to the game, Han was batting .202 (45-for-223) with four home runs, 27 RBIs and an OPS of .572 in 75 games this season. After a sluggish first half, he was hitting .344 (32-for-11) with two home runs and five RBIs in his last 10 games.
In the top of the seventh inning, SSG’s offense is underway, and they lead 3-2.
