Atlanta of the Major League Baseball (MLB) brought the series back to square one with a dramatic comeback win.

Atlanta won 5-4 in the second game of the 2023 MLB National League Division Series (NLDS, best of 5) held at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia, USA on the 10th.

Atlanta, with a series record of 1 win and 1 loss, will play games 3 and 4 of the NLDS at Philadelphia’s home stadium starting on the 12th.

It was Philadelphia that took the lead. Philadelphia took the lead with Alec Bohm’s timely hit in the top of the first inning, then JT Realmuto hit a two-run home run in the top of the third, and Bryson Scott added one run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth to take a 4-0 lead.

Atlanta’s batting lineup exploded late in the second half of the game. Atlanta made up for one run with Ozzie Alvis’ timely hit in the bottom of the 6th inning, but Travis Dano’s 2-run home run in the bottom of the 7th inning brought the game to a close game by 1 run.

In the bottom of the 8th inning, when the game was tied 4-5, Austin Riley, the ‘solver’, hit a comeback home run. With 2 outs and 3rd base, Riley lifted Philadelphia setup man Jeff Hoffman’s low slider like a golf swing and flew over the left wall.

Atlanta walked leadoff hitter Bryce Harper in the top of the ninth inning. With one out and one on first base, Nick Castellanos of the Philadelphia Phillies hit a big ball to the right-center field of the outfield. However, this batted ball was caught in the glove of center fielder Michael Harris, who flew away. Even the runner on first base, Harper, who started off confident of a hit, was caught at first base and preserved the team’s victory.

In another NLDS held at Dodger Stadium, Arizona defeated its district rival, the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-2, winning its second straight win. If Arizona wins just one game, it will advance to the National League Championship Series (NLCS, 4 wins out of 7) for the first time in 16 years since 2007.

Arizona took the opportunity to load the bases without a walk and two hits against Dodgers starter Bobby Miller in the top of the first inning. Arizona, who easily took the lead with Christian Walker’s sacrifice fly, scored one point on Gabriel Moreno’s infield ground ball and another point on Lourdes Gurriel Jr.’s hit, running away to 3-0.

메이저사이트The Dodgers went one run behind with JD Martinez’s one-run home run in the bottom of the fourth, but Arizona widened the lead again with Gurriel Jr.’s solo shot in the top of the sixth. The Dodgers were only able to score one run in the bottom of the sixth inning thanks to Enrique Hernández’s timely hit.

Dodgers starter Bobby Miller did not do his part, allowing 4 hits, 2 walks, and 3 runs in 1.2 innings. Following Clayton Kershaw’s poor performance in Game 1, the starting pitcher only pitched a total of 2 innings in 2 games, putting an increased burden on the bullpen, and the Dodgers ended their 2nd home game with 2 losses.

The two teams will play Game 3 of the NLDS at Chase Field, Arizona’s home stadium, on the 12th.
