Israeli Son Heung-min’s teammate Manor Solomon (24, Tottenham) publicly criticized the Palestinian armed political group Hamas, which killed its citizens in a hospital explosion.
Solomon opened his personal social network service (SNS) on the 18th (local time) 스포츠토토and expressed indignation at the incident in which Al Ahli Hospital in the Gaza Strip was attacked by a rocket, killing nearly 500 people, including 471 Palestinians.
Solomon shared a photo of the hospital explosion site and wrote, “(Hamas) kills its own people and blames Israel.” He added an emoji next to it indicating an incomprehensible reaction.
Before and after that, Solomon shared a video of U.S. President Joe Biden’s remarks on the Israel-Palestine conflict and a statement from Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
He was indignant that Hamas had publicly expressed the position that “Israel was responsible for this accident,” and wrote, “What more evidence do we need (that Hamas was responsible)?”
In one day, as many as six posts were posted on Instagram Stories announcing Israel’s position and criticizing Hamas.
Solomon, who joined Tottenham this season and quickly took over the starting wing position, suffered a meniscus injury in his right knee earlier this month. While he was working on his rehabilitation with the goal of returning in December, his home country was engulfed in war.
Meanwhile, voices are being raised here and there in the soccer world about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Former German international Mesut Ozil publicly declared his support for Palestine and called for an end to the war.
Lee Jae-sung’s teammate Anwar El Ghazi was banned from training and matches by the club for posting a pro-Palestinian post criticizing Israel on social media.
Kim Min-jae’s teammate, Moroccan Nusair Mazrawi, also became embroiled in controversy after posting a post supporting Palestine.
